Make-up Monday

A Too Faced review | I love puns!

I’m not going to pretend to be great at make up because I’m not. I’m ok, for my face, but that’s about it. But I love playing with make-up, even if it does look like crap by the end of it. However, I recently discovered a Too Faced shop in Westfield Stratford and I lost my shit.

I need a new contour, and as much as I love Kevyn Aucoin’s sculpting powder I think £32.00 for 3.1g is ridiculous. And I had heard amazing things about Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, which is £25.00 for 7.9g.

But of course, like every other person with an addiction to shopping: I didn’t just stop there; no, no, no. I also bought Better Than Sex mascara, Lip Injection Extreme and the Sparkling Pineapple eyeshadow palette.

I had no intention of buying so much, but they slipped and fell into my basket and then I accidentally paid for them. Whoops. But, I am so glad I did. I loved them, I loved them all.

The colour pay off is just excellent but I am going to talk about them all individually, starting off with Chocolate Soleil. Off the bat the cost in ratio to amount of product is great. The pigment is rich and easily built up, it also smells like Chocolate, which I really like. I think it blends alright, I think Kevyn Aucain blends easier but it doesn’t go as deep as Chocolate Soleil. Over all, I think I found my new contour/bronzer.

The Better Than Sex mascara is most definitely not better than sex. I am not a massive fan, as I have mentioned in previous blogs I have short eyelashes and the brush is not that great for short eyelashes. I think the formula is quite thick and would create a really nice ‘spider leg’ look, and it is incredibly black. So for those with long lashes this would great on you but I have short lashes so the Roller Lash mascara by Benefit is my tried and true.

But both the mascara and Lip Injection were an impulse buy and I had always been curious. I’ve been trying to use more lip glosses and lip stains and I was standing at the till thinking ‘Why the fuck not?’ And I have to say it is pretty good, it really does plump your lips and make them appear naturally slightly flushed red or pink. It is a very thin formula but you don’t need a lot. It is worth it, yeah. I think it’s a good product.

Lastly, we have the Sparkling Pineapple eyeshadow palette. When I swatched this on my hand I fell in love with the shade. I can honestly say this has replaced my favourite palette, Modern Renaissance by Anastasia Beverly Hills. It is like the perfect palette for someone like me. It is compact and travel friendly. I will say the glitter shadows are very soft, so be careful with them.

Ultimately, I think Too Faced is a good brand. I tried a good selection of their products and overall I am impressed and will definitely be repurchasing.
