Make-up Monday

What is the best foundation for oily skin?

I have tried more foundations, BB creams, CC creams and tinted moisturizers than I care to count. Literally, I have no idea how many I have tried. But hopefully I can help you find the right one for you.

1. Estee Lauder Double Wear stay-in-place Makeup –  £33.50

This is definitely my ride-or-die foundation, it lasts all day and still looks fresh to death and depending on how much you apply: you can go for a light coverage to a full coverage. And just a tip: if you want to go for full coverage, build it up layer by layer or you will look a cake, unless you don’t mind or care then do what you want. ** Get the pump as well, it will save you so much product.

  • Longevity: 24 hours *18 hours is the longest I have had it on for and it looked okay
  • Shade range: 41
  • Coverage: Medium to full
  • Finish: Matte
  • Skin types: All
  • SPF: 10
  • Volume: 30ml
  • Not cruelty free, sold in China

2. Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer – £25.00

This was a one time purchase for me as there was not enough product and it was a little too light on coverage but it is buildable, to an extent. This tinted moisturizer was surprisingly good, it didn’t crack or flake and it lasted the whole day. It was a super light weight formula and can be matted down. The only down side is it doesn’t come in lots of different shades, but that is the sad truth of most foundations. The other nice thing was it didn’t settle in my fine lines and pores.

  • Longevity: 4-8 hours *My opinion
  • Shade range: 5
  • Coverage: Light to natural
  • Finish: Semi-matte
  • Skin types: All
  • SPF: 15
  • Volume: 10ml
  • Oil free
  • Not cruelty free, sold in China

3. L’Oreal Paris True Match Liquid Foundation – £9.99

This is my go-to affordable foundation and although it is quite shear it is definitely buildable and easily matted down. I don’t think this is the kind of foundation that will last well from morning untill night but if you need something quick this is the one for you, and they have a relatively wide shade range. The only complaint I have about L’Oreal foundation is they are either pink or yellow under-toned for people who are neutral or a deep red under-tone, you may need to mix this foundation for another colour.

  • Longevity: 4-8 hours *My opinion
  • Shade range: 28
  • Coverage: Light to natural
  • Finish: Semi-matte
  • Skin types: All
  • SPF: 17
  • Volume: 30ml
  • Not cruelty free, sold in China
